Full renovation of an art deco era dwelling located on a typical suburban street in Sydney. We explored the ‘rear addition’ typology as a way to update the current housing stock to suit modern living standards, while increasing the amount of accommodation available per dwelling.

An inefficient addition was removed to make way for a complete redesign of the plan. The front of the house was retained and reconfigured to add a third bedroom.

Existing timber floors were sanded and stained to save costs and the new roof form with a high level window creates a dynamic sense of space and freedom.
