Northbridge apartments

This project was an exercise in urban densification and value-add, continuing in the same spirit as the original builders. The development expands upon the available accommodation with additional bedrooms, bathrooms and access to outdoor open spaces, bringing the building up to date with modern living.

Full renovation of a 1920s, heritage listed block of 4 apartments. A significant portion of Sydney’s urban density consists of the suburban, walk-up flat building of between 4 to 12 units per block. These have now become ubiquitous and blend seamlessly into the surrounding lower density urban fabric, usually along arterial roads or, even earlier in this case, along Sydney’s forgotten tram network.

The front elevation was renewed with the application of a sympathetic colour scheme and landscaping. The contemporary composition articulates our love of the outdoors, considered aspect, and design for thermal comfort.
